Spiritually Open

Spirituality is an intensely personal subject. No one size fits all. It’s something we feel throughout us, something that makes meaning of our existence. It is NOT always something religious, nor something each person can reliably find in a church. While some of us may feel at home in the halls of organized religion, many others grapple for something that feels right and does not shun aspects of their identity or beliefs.

One doesn’t need to believe in God to be spiritual. All of us have a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual body. We are composed of physical sensations, thoughts, feelings, and something that often defies explanation. Being cut off from our spiritual layer can leave us feeling empty - again, not because we require GOD. That’s not what this is about. It’s because we require that deeper sense of connection to ourselves, others, and nature in a way that works to fuel our “heart and soul.”

Spirituality does not mean going to church. For some, spirituality can be taking a deep breath while sitting at the edge of a river. It can be praying to a deity or the universe from the comfort of a bedroom. Or, it can be nothing more than feeling that extra layer of interconnectedness with everyone around us for a moment while we focus on self-compassion.

Regardless of your spiritual path, if you’re looking for “pastoral” guidance that is unique to you, I am happy to work with you. I have studied many world religions, practiced many spiritual acts and rituals, and have worked directly with people who call themselves many different things: Christian, Catholic, Pagan, Wiccan, Asatru, Heathen, Agnostic, Athiest, Druidic, Akan, Unitarian Universalist, Unity, Buddhist, Luciferian, Jehovah’s Witness, & a few more, to boot. All of these paths have spiritual components, while others additionally have religious components. Teasing apart what makes all of us inherently spiritual can bring a layer of peace and satisfaction to all of our lives.

If you’ve lived a life where you felt judged for your spiritual beliefs and interests, know that you can find a safe place with me. We can work together to find spiritual balance in a way that truly serves you. You deserve to live a life of meaning with a sense of connection and wholeness.
