Eternity - A Poem By Safrianna Lughna

Eternity

This stardust,

specks, cells, atoms,

make the matter of the

Universe.

It will exist for Eternity.

Cannot be created, nor destroyed.

Simply is/are in absolutes.

Foolish humans, however:

their biggest folly being the

thought they are somehow

better than all else because

they can speak,

conceptualize sentience.

But, they can most certainly be destroyed.

Have you seen their fragile forms?

How quickly they fade?

We, counting ourselves as superior to the

Divine Intelligence that is all of Nature,

think we can outwit the source of

All and Awe.

But, we cannot outlive the Infinite.

Safrianna Lughna

I have no concept of exactly when I wrote this poem. Perhaps 2019? 2021?

Right after I took Priestess vows to Brigid?

After I saw how the pandemic changed our spin and swirl?

Whenever it was, my sentiments remain the same.

Part of the beauty of this human life is that we are learning what individual expression really means.

But the big part of being an individual many humans miss is that the individual by nature means there is a whole—a unified state, too.

We play games of superiority that do not support the highest good of all when we operate from wounded individuality.

It’s important we remember we are but one part of a larger ecosystem. The healthier we are, the more we genuinely thrive in harmony with ourselves AND the world around us, the more we have the capacity to ripple out an abundance of sustainable resources, opportunities, and nourishment for all. We CAN do it.

Step one is realize we’re mortal, fallible creatures who live and die like everything else on Mother Earth.

Step two is realizing so is everyone else. We are all equal.

We are all part of the one great whole, the Infinite. Call it what you will. Universe, Creation, God, Matter.

We are all made of the same stardust.

This time of year I can’t help but reflect on those I’ve loved who have passed on to return to the All again. I wonder on if they’ve taken new forms—remade themselves in some new image of God.

What does this poem evoke for you? Do you agree or disagree with my sentiments? Do you have a different take?

With Infinite Love,
